Hawke’s Bay on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island is the country’s agricultural powerhouse, and home to over 100 individual vineyards and 80 wineries. Hawke’s Bay also offer numerous attractions and activities – from visiting and sampling fine wines to admiring historic architecture to exploring the amazing Hawke’s Bay outdoors.

Blessed with fertile soils and sunny climate, the Hawke’s Bay region is known as ‘The Fruit Bowl of New Zealand’ as it is one of the main producers of stone fruit such as peaches, plums and nectarines. It is a major agricultural and food processing hub with farms, orchards and vineyards across its plains, and an impressive 353-kilometre coastline.

The Hawke’s Bay Trails boast 200km of flat, easy-riding trails throughout the region, connecting wineries, cafés, quaint country pubs and artisan outlets. It is the perfect way to explore the region and take in some amazing scenery around rivers, lakes and waterfalls. From the Tukituki River, Lake Waikaremoana and the spectacular Shine Falls.

The city of Napier rebuilt after a catastrophic earthquake in 1931, has one of the world’s finest collections of distinctive Art Deco architecture. There are guided tours to view the city and art deco landmarks. A huge drawcard to the city is Napier Art Deco Festival held in February as well as other attractions like, The Marine parade, Gannet colony, Golf at Cape Kidnappers, National Aquarium of N.Z, Sea Walls murals, beaches, restaurants and boutique shops.

With over 70+ wineries the Hastings District is a mecca for food and wine lovers. It has an abundance of fruit orchards, array of boutique and artisan delicacies – many are at the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market. Visit Splash Planet, an amusement park and the popular Te Mata Park with spectacular giant redwoods, walking and biking trails and unspoiled beauty. From the iconic Te Mata Peak you can enjoy spectacular views of Hawke’s Bay.
